About Design Academy Eindhoven

Design Academy Eindhoven (DAE) is an internationally renowned institute for art and design education, known for its critical, research-driven approach and strong focus on social relevance. In April 2025, Perrett Laver supported the search for a new Creative Director, following the upcoming departure of Joseph Grima after two terms.

The Creative Director, alongside the Director of Education, Research and Organisation, forms DAE’s Executive Board and is key to shaping the Academy’s artistic direction and strategic vision.

Design Academy Eindhoven appoints Dr Ramon Amaro as new Creative Director

The appointed candidate, Dr Ramon Amaro, will begin in September 2025. A theorist and educator with a background in engineering, philosophy, and digital culture, Amaro brings an interdisciplinary perspective and community-focused approach to the role. As the new Creative Director of DAE, he envisions design as a profoundly social and philosophical act, emphasising its role in justice, agency, and inclusivity. His formal introduction will take place during the October Graduation Show.

I feel like my path has led to this moment, and I’m honoured to step into a place that shares a commitment to imagining what design can become.
