Maarten IJzerman considers the ESHPM faculty to be a leading international institute: “I am very honoured and look forward to starting as Dean of the Erasmus School of Health & Policy Management. The faculty has tremendous expertise that is essential to the challenges in health and welfare. I look forward to linking the ambitions of ESHPM to the Convergence Alliance, in close cooperation with other faculties within Erasmus University and other partnerships. But first, I want to listen and understand what is going on within the faculty. It is important that people can do their work in an environment where they feel respected and safe and where there is enough attention for diversity of talent.”
Since 2018, IJzerman has been a professor and director at Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences at the University of Melbourne and the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre, an alliance of 10 hospitals, where he leads, among other things, a data-intensive Cancer Health Services Research program.
He will hold the position as of 1 May 2022.
Both the advisory committee and the Faculty Council are pleased with the appointment. There is great trust in IJzerman.
