Jenn is Professor of Assessment and Educational Advancement and Vice-Dean for Teaching, Learning, Students in the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health, and will succeed Professor April McMahon.
Jenn brings a wealth of experience to the role: in policy development, educational innovation, and cross-sector collaboration, with a particular focus on assessment reform, improving staff culture, integrating generative AI, learning analytics, and embedding the student voice. She also works closely with educational bodies across both health and broader education sectors, contributes to parliamentary reform in higher education policy, and serves as a governor on local civic and further education boards, ensuring her practice remains grounded in both national priorities and community impact.
“As a former widening participation student and proud Mancunian, I am deeply committed to improving access to higher education in the region, particularly for underrepresented and disadvantaged communities. This is a really important time of change for the sector and Manchester, with the emergence of new digital technologies and our 2035 strategy. It’s for everyone who works at the University to help our students succeed and grow, whatever their backgrounds, and I’m proud and excited to be taking up this role at such a critical moment.”
