Professor Mackay is a highly regarded biomedical researcher and research leader, recognised internationally for her contributions to medical science and her commitment to advancing research that delivers real‑world impact. She has held senior academic and leadership roles at leading Australian research institutions most recently, as the Director and Chief Executive Officer of QIMR Berghofer, one of Australia’s largest medical research institutes.
Prior to her role at QIMR, Professor Mackay was Head, School of Biomedical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences at the University of Melbourne. Professor Mackay brings deep experience across discovery science, translation, and collaborative research ecosystems.
I am delighted to be joining St Vincent’s Institute, an organisation with a proud history of scientific excellence and a strong commitment to improving human health. I look forward to working with the Board, researchers, clinicians, professional staff, and partners to support and expand SVI’s outstanding contributions to medical discovery.
