Corvinus University of Budapest is Hungary’s leading university in economics, business and the social sciences. Its roots go back to 1920, when the Faculty of Economics of the Royal Hungarian University was founded, and it has educated generations of Hungary’s business, policy and academic leaders.
The University is based in the centre of Budapest, in a UNESCO World Heritage building overlooking the Danube. Most of its programmes are taught in English.

Academic work is organised in eleven institutes, from Economics and Finance to Data Analytics, Sustainable Development, and Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Doctoral training runs through four doctoral schools.
Under Rector Bruno van Pottelsberghe, Corvinus is investing in research quality, education excellence, and international recruitment. AI and sustainability are named strategic priorities, and these three professorships are a central part of that agenda.
Corvinus University of Budapest is appointing professors in artificial intelligence as part of a coordinated cluster hire. The three new permanent positions sit in AI in Supply Chain Management, AI in Communication and AI in Energy.
These appointments are part of a University-wide priority to strengthen research and teaching in AI and sustainability. The new professors will join at a formative moment: each will help shape how AI is taught and researched at Corvinus, bring new international collaborations, and raise the University’s research profile.
Candidates join as a group of three new colleagues, each building AI expertise in a different field, with the backing of the University’s senior leadership. Internationalisation is a central goal of the University’s strategy, and international candidates are warmly encouraged to apply.
Each role has a natural academic home, described below. The University is open to hosting the appointments in the institute or research centre that best fits the successful candidate’s research and teaching profile.
Founded in 2022, the Institute brings together three departments: Supply Chain Management, Operations Research and Actuarial Sciences, and Decision Sciences, with around [40] academics across the three.
The Institute combines strong quantitative methods (modelling, optimisation and data analysis) with participatory and reflective approaches, and aims for research with practical impact. It teaches across Bachelor, Master and PhD levels, including the PhD programme in Operations and Decision Sciences, whose research themes include digitalisation in business networks, supply chain risk and resilience, and behavioural decision science.
This professorship brings AI into the heart of supply chain and operations research at Corvinus. The appointee will build research and teaching at the meeting point of Operations Research, Supply Chain Management and AI, working across the Institute’s three departments.
The Institute welcomes a broad range of AI work, from methodological contributions to applied research, with particular interest in using AI to plan, control and design supply chains.

The Institute aims to be the leading centre for marketing and communication research in Hungary and to make its work recognised internationally. It has around [42–47 – to confirm] academic staff, more than 60 doctoral students, and a growing share of international faculty, across five departments: Digital Marketing; Intercultural Marketing and Consumer Behaviour; Communication and Media Science; Marketing and Design Communications; and Marketing Management.
The role sits in the Department of Communication and Media Science, the only department in Hungary to offer Communication and Media Studies at Bachelor, Master and PhD level. Its research centres on visuality and visual communication; digital media and social communication; and communication and cognition. It has 16 academic colleagues, many of them early in their careers.

The role is linked to the Corvinus Institute of Advanced Studies (CIAS), a research-focused environment bringing together internal and international researchers, and to the [Institute of Data Analytics and Information Systems – to confirm], home to around 75 colleagues working in information management, mathematics, statistics and IT, with applied research in machine learning.
This professorship will build research and teaching on digitalisation and AI in the energy sector. The appointee will lead research at the meeting point of AI, energy systems, energy economics and regulation, and help grow Corvinus’s participation in European research programmes such as Horizon Europe.

A permanent, full-time academic appointment under the University’s Academic Career Model, with a standard three-month probationary period. Career tracks can be research-focused, balanced or education-focused, and a clear promotion pathway to Full Professor applies.

English is the working language for teaching and research in these roles. Hungarian is not required.
Budapest is one of Central Europe’s great capitals: a city on the Danube with UNESCO-listed architecture, a lively cultural scene and excellent connections across Europe. Its cost of living is lower than in most Western European capitals.
The Corvinus main building stands on the Pest bank of the Danube, next to the Great Market Hall and within easy reach of the city’s public transport network.

Valia holds a BSc in Physics, an MSc in Applied Physics, and a PhD in Laser Physics and Spectroscopy from Radboud University of Nijmegen. Prior to her career at Perrett Laver, she worked as a Postdoctoral researcher in the Life Science Trace Detection Laboratory at Radboud University in Nijmegen.
Her senior level executive search experience includes Executive and Senior Academic and Administrative appointments in the Higher Education, Research and Innovation, Social Impact and Environment and Arts and Culture sectors. In addition, she has worked on multiple senior appointments in the intersection between academic organisations, arts and culture, and industry.
Emi holds a BSc in Psychology, an MSc in Cognitive Neuroscience from Utrecht University and a PhD in the Cognitive Neuroscience of Aging from the University of Groningen. Before joining Perrett Laver, Emi worked as a postdoc in Social Medicine at the VU University Medical Center in Amsterdam. Besides her academic commitments, she also represented the PhD community in Groningen and helped manage the communication platforms for a large conference.
Emi is fluent in English, Dutch & Albanian and speaks conversational Italian.
