Appointment of President

Dating back to 1854, University College Dublin (UCD) has played a pivotal role in the development of Ireland. Today UCD is Ireland’s largest university with 38,000 students, an annual turnover of €566 million and annual research awards worth €132 million. Such scale reflects our global reach, our wide range of disciplines and our open and ambitious attitude. Ranked within the top 1% of higher education institutions worldwide, UCD strives to demonstrate leadership in each of our values: fostering excellence and creativity, championing integrity and diversity, and encouraging collegiality and engagement.

Our new President will take up office at an exciting time as we continue to play an influential part in tackling global challenges. We are seeking an outstanding leader with substantial experience and intellectual credibility to build upon our successes and enable the University to achieve its aspirations for the future. They will be passionate about the University, our mission, values, and goals, and have the personal attributes to lead a major global university. They will inspire an outstanding University community to achieve our ambitions for excellence and impact, setting standards for quality education of our students, strengthening research performance and building our national and global reputation.

In pioneering the development of a University for All, UCD is committed to being a fully inclusive and diverse community. We seek and encourage applications for this role from the broadest range of society, including all under-represented groups.
