About CIC’s Mission

CIC’s mission is to strengthen cooperative approaches among national governments, international organisations, and the wider policy community to prevent crises and advance peace, justice, and inclusion.

After an extensive search for the Executive Director, the successful candidate was Ambassador Kimani.

A global search yielded candidates from government, academia, and multilateral organisations. The successful candidate was Ambassador Kimani, who had been the Permanent Representative and Head of Kenya’s Mission to the United Nations (UN) since December 2020.

In this role, he represented Kenya in the Security Council, serving as its President in October 2021, and chaired the Executive Board of the UN Development Programme (UNDP), UN Population Fund (UNFPA), and UN Office for Project Services (UNOPS).

It is a profound honour to join NYU’s Center on International Cooperation, an institution recognised for its significant contributions worldwide.
