Transparency International’s Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Maíra Martini as Chief Executive Officer of Transparency International (TI). She will run the International Secretariat, based in Berlin, Germany, and contribute to the movement’s leadership. She will start her new role on 1 February.
Martini has been with the Transparency International Secretariat since 2011. Most recently, she has served as Head of Policy & Advocacy, where her leadership has been pivotal in shaping the strategic direction of the organisation. She has led Transparency International on efforts in anti-money laundering, beneficial ownership transparency and combating illicit financial flows. Martini is a lawyer with a Master’s degree in Public Policy from the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin.
“I am deeply honoured to take on the role of CEO at Transparency International. As the world faces significant challenges – polarised governments, undue influence and the capture of policies aimed at addressing critical issues such as inequality, environmental degradation and the climate crisis – corruption often lies at the heart of these problems. As the leading anti-corruption organisation, it is our responsibility to step up and confront these systemic issues head-on.”
